Concedes once versus Canada
Kobel recorded six saves and gave up one goal in Wednesday's 2-1 victory against Canada.
Analysis: Kobel was suspect a couple of times, but he set a new season high in saves in the competition and surrendered just one goal, on a tidy finish from the middle of the box after he had come out of the goal a little too tentatively, which sufficed for Switzerland to claim all three points. He has yet to keep a clean sheet, but he has conceded three goals and made 11 saves so far. His team advanced to the knockout stage and will take the field Thursday.
Clean sheet lost in stoppage time
Kobel registered two saves and allowed one goal in Thursday's 4-1 win versus Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Analysis: Kobel spent most of the night as a spectator, with Bosnia barely threatening his goal and two comfortable saves from outside the box all he had to deal with. Everything was pointing towards a clean sheet, especially after Bosnia were reduced to ten men, but a late corner in stoppage time saw Kobel's punch fall straight to Ermin Mahmic, who volleyed it home and snatched the clean sheet away at the last moment. That first World Cup shutout remains elusive for the Swiss keeper, but he'll get another shot against host nation Canada.
